The N-TOPCon High Efficiency Solar Module

Higher Efficiency

N-type TOPCon solar cells generally achieve higher efficiency compared to PERC cells. This is attributed to the superior passivation quality of the tunnel oxide layer in TOPCon cells,

reducing surface recombination and improving electron-hole pair separation. Consequently, more sunlight is converted into electricity.

Lower Degradation Rates

N-type TOPCon cells exhibit lower Light-Induced Degradation (LID) and Potential-Induced Degradation (PID) compared to PERC cells. The inherent resistance of N-type silicon to

boron-oxygen-related defects causing LID, along with the less-prone-to-ion-migration structure of TOPCon cells, means that N-type TOPCon modules maintain a higher percentage

of their initial performance over time.

Better Temperature Coefficient

N-type TOPCon solar modules typically have a superior temperature coefficient compared to PERC modules. This means their performance decreases less as the temperature

rises, making them more suitable for installations in hot climates.

Less Sensitive to Shading

The cell structure of N-type TOPCon modules is less sensitive to partial shading compared to PERC modules. This advantage proves beneficial in situations where shading from

trees, buildings, or other obstructions is inevitable.

Bifacial Potential

While both N-type TOPCon and PERC technologies support bifacial solar panels (collecting sunlight from both front and back sides), N-type TOPCon cells are particularly

well-suited for bifacial applications due to their excellent rear-side passivation.

No Light-Induced Degradation (LID)

Unlike P-type cells in PERC modules, N-type cells in TOPCon modules are not affected by LID caused by the boron-oxygen complex, avoiding a significant reduction in initial

efficiency.
